| I was born and raised in Kronenberg, a small town in The Netherlands, the second of four sons of Leonardus and Huberdina Draak. I grew up on a working farm and learned early the importance of responsibility. Vader Moeder One of my earliest memories is visiting my grandfather's shed. I was fascinated by all his tools and the smell of wood. I now have my own shop filled with tools. The sweet aroma of rough cut oak and maple now permeate my shop bringing back that long ago memory. I worked many years for a construction company in Holland. I made custom doors and windows. I used different hard woods to fashion "one of a kind " doors. I learned my trade and developed skills and techniques from old world masters. Today I design and build solid wood furniture from rough cut boards. I plane them, sizing and joining them together for the perfect canvas using mortise, tenons, dowels and dado techniques, each piece is uniquely constructed for strength, beauty and function. |
